We’re Janet and Karen—lifelong friends who met as expats in Mexico City over 25 years ago. Our shared love of the coast, global travel, and breezy style led us to create Uncommonly Coastal as a way to share the beauty, charm, and joy of coastal living.

Karen lives in Myrtle Beach, SC, and brings you stylish decor on a budget, elegant beachwear, and easy entertaining ideas. She’s all about turning everyday moments into something special—and the party often starts at her house!

Janet has traveled to 92 countries (and counting) and brings her adventurous spirit to every post. Based in Houston, she shares coastal destinations, hidden gems, global finds, and expert tips on moving and adapting to life’s transitions.
