I love coastal areas of all types and the more unusual, the better. Egypt has been on my ‘bucket list’ for years, and I finally had the opportunity to spend some extended time traveling the country. First, we started in the bustling city of Cairo, flew over to Luxor, set sail on the Nile River and travelled down to the southernmost city of Aswan, then looped back to Cairo. On our trip north, we followed the Nile to the cosmopolitan city of Alexandria located right on the Mediterranean Sea. We explored the coastal region, including the city of Rashid where the Nile River empties into the Mediterranean before returning to Cairo to explore a bit more.Â
