Barbados Tropical Christmas:Unwrapping Joy in the Caribbean Sun

The small package appeared mysteriously under the Christmas tree.  It’s gift-wrapped differently than the other presents, and it’s topped with a velvet red bow tied by hand with a tiny tag.  The message reads:  Open me first!  You can’t believe your eyes- Two tickets to paradise!  You’re going on American Airlines for a Barbados Tropical Christmas!

Anti-Aging Secrets from the Sea: The Magic of Pearl Powder

Anti-Aging Pearl Powder

The more I uncover about the ocean, the greater my astonishment at the incredible range of products that it generates. A recent revelation for me was Pearl Powder, which left me totally fascinated – and it’s an anti-agent powerhouse!
What is Pearl Powder?

Pearl Powder is a finely milled substance made from non-graded real pearls. These organic gemstones are typically formed within oysters, mussels, and other mollusks. The process of creating pearl powder involves boiling fresh or saltwater pearls to ensure sterilization. Afterwards. the pearls are ground and pulverized into a delicately fine powder. The result is a texture similar to flour or cornstarch.

Discovering Monaco: The Glamorous Jewel of the French Riviera

Monaco is the world’s second-smallest country, located on the French Rivera, between France and the Mediterranean Sea. It is tiny, with only one major city and loads of luxury, all squeezed into less than one square mile. Monaco is considered to be one of the most expensive places to live in the world, with average real estate prices hovering around $8,,000 per square foot.  It has the highest GDP per capita and over 70% of the population are millionaires, most from generational wealth.

Call of the Ocean – Vacation Time

Sometimes I just NEED the beach.

Seeing the coast relaxes my mind and heals my soul. There’s just something about it – something calming about the ocean.

In our area, most people we know go to the same beach – Destin, Orange, Rosemary – somewhere around the corridor of 30A. Many of our friends are drawn back to the same place year after year – and it becomes a tradition and a way to connect with extended family and friends.

I grew up going to those same beaches, in the summers and around Easter. We enjoyed it and made cherished memories with our family. As a college student, we visited Florida beaches and had a great time with friends.

I Want to Age Like Sea Glass…

I want to age like sea glass. Smoothed by tides, not broken. I want the currents of life to toss me around, shake me up and leave me feeling washed clean. I want my heard edges to soften as the years pass- made not weak, but supple. I want to ride the waves, go with the flow, feel the impact of the surging tides rolling in and out.

When I am thrown against the shore and caught between the rocks and a hard place, I want to rest there until I can find the strength to do what is next. Not stuck-just waiting, pondering, feeling what it feels like to pause. And when I am ready, I will catch a wave and let it carry me along to the next place that I am supposed to be.

Coastal Scents: The Vacation Collection by Bella Vela

Are you one of those people who opens and sniffs all the candles while standing in line to check out? I am.

There are some pleasant smells, but none just exactly “it.” I put them back, disappointed.

I want to walk into my home and be immediately welcomed by a beautiful scent – something fragrant, yet clean. I want to be greeted by the scent of being stretched out on an island somewhere, anywhere. Is this too much to ask? You know the scent. There’s a little floral sweetness to it, and maybe orange? Coconut? Definitely some sea.

Well, I found it and I’m happy to share. You can thank me later.

Introducing South Pause Island Girl – Sea Glass Jewelry

I could hardly wait to introduce you to my friend, Norvell. Known as “South Pause Island Girl” on Tik Tok, she makes exquisite jewelry from Bahamian sea glass. From Virginia originally, she is fortunate enough to have a home on Guana Cay, part of the Abacos Islands in the Bahamas. We LOVE catching her “lives” online every morning as she shares the breathtaking views of the sun rising from her wraparound porch while enjoying her coffee. (She’s also been known to share the gorgeous sunsets with a cocktail and a concert right there on her deck!)

Welcome to the Uncommonly Coastal Blog

Dream with me for a minute.

Picture yourself on a pristine coastal beach, where the sand caresses your toes, the ocean breeze whispers through your hair, and the rhythmic sounds of the crashing waves lull you into a state of bliss.  Ahhh…

As you walk along the shoreline, with the warmth of the sun and the scent of the salty air, all your cares and burdens gently melt away. Then, when the sun begins its descent, painting the sky with hues of pink and orange, you realize there is nowhere else you would rather be.
